According to the board, this decision was made because of Fast Bowler’s injuries in the past two years. Considering the workload, the decision will ensure that Pakistan’s key bowlers focus on their performances.
The PCB wants the national team to avoid the injury crisis regarding bowling resources, as seen in the ICT Twenty20 World Cup 2022 and 2023.
Shaheen Afridi said, “I have played under the captaincy of the Babar Azam, and there is respect for them.” I will help them inside and outside the field; we are all one. Our goal is to help Pakistan make the world’s best team.
His past captaincy records himself. Under his leadership, Pakistan defeated India for the first time in the ICT Twenty20 World Cup 2021. In the 2022 T20 World Cup, he brought the team to the final. It was Pakistan’s first final in a World Cup since 2009.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has thanked Shaheen Afridi for his contribution as captain and hopes that Captain Babar Azam and Shaheen will be influential in taking the Pakistani team to the top.
