HBL PSL 10: Pakistan Super League 2025 – New Proposed Schedule

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was considering holding the HBL PSL 10 from April 7 to May 20 next year due to the Champions Trophy, slated to happen in February.

The PCB had proposed holding Pakistan Super League matches in Karachi, Multan, and Rawalpindi. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi provides an update about the window for PSL 10.

The eagerly anticipated schedule for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 has been unveiled, with matches set to commence on April 7 and conclude on May 20, 2025.

A meeting was arranged by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, with PSL franchises, marking an important step in determining the timeline for the 10th edition of PSL.

PSL ready for IPL clash as PCB proposes to move to April-May window

The PCB has proposed a report of changes in the HBL PSL which, if approved, it could include:

  • Shifting the league to an April-May window would mean it will clash with the Indian Premier League.
  • The possibility of a $ 300,000-plus contract for franchises to sign a marquee player.
  • Matches to be played at a neutral venue, the UK is the most probable option.

Pakistan Cricket Board chairman “Mohsin Naqvi” seeking greater certainty around the scheduling of the Pakistan Super League, as well as the need to avoid a clash with international cricket. He said:

“We need to continue to engage in discussions and find our ways and options so that we can collectively achieve our overarching objectives”


PCB plans to sign PSL 10 top players in advance due to a possible date clash with IPL

The Pakistan Cricket Board has devised a plan to include top players for the Pakistan Super League 10 in advance for their services for the thrilling event due to the clashing dates with the IPL.

During a general council meeting in Lahore on Saturday, which was also attended by the Pakistan Super League management and representatives, the PCB suggested dates (7th April to 20th May 2025) for the next edition of PSL.

PCB plans to rope in top players for PSL 10 as dates are clashing with IPL

The PCB plans to secure some marquee players in advance with guarantees that they will play in the Pakistan Super League. Franchises and PSL management will mutually finalize the player pool, which will be multiplied by six to provide equal opportunities to all franchises. These players will be offered a salary cap of around USD 350,000 to USD 400,000.

PCB plans to secure top players for PSL 10 amid IPL clash

The PSL 10 schedule is set for April 7 to May 20, 2025; It may coincide with the IPL, causing scheduling conflicts for the players. While the exact number of marquee players is yet to be determined, there will likely be six to twelve.

Players will be included in the draft under the platinum category without being directly signed, ensuring their availability and selection.

Pakistan Super League 10 Set to Take on IPL in New Proposed Schedule

The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced changes in the PSL 10 schedule; usually held in February-March, PSL 10 will occur from 7 April to 20 May 2025, coinciding with the Indian Premier League (IPL). This alteration was due to the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025, hosted in Pakistan.

The PSL 2025 matches are set to be held in Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan. Venues like Peshawar and Quetta are being held back for another season.

  • Ten matches are scheduled to be played at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
  • Eight matches will be held at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
  • Five matches will be held at National Stadium Karachi and Multan Stadium.
  • Four matches are scheduled to be played at neutral venues.
  • Karachi is set to host limited matches due to crowd turnout in the last season (PSL 9).
  • Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars all (10 matches) will be in the day and night format.
  • Gladiators and Sultans will play eight matches each under the floodlights.
  • Karachi Kings will host all (five) matches of the schedule in Karachi.
  • Lahore Qalandars will also play half of their matches at (their home ground) Lahore.
  • Quetta Gladiators will play five matches in Lahore.
  • Multan Sultans and Islamabad United will play five matches each at their home grounds (Multan and Rawalpindi).
  • Five matches of Peshawar Zalmi will be played in Rawalpindi.
  • Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators will face off in Rawalpindi Stadium.
  • The Karachi Kings vs Multan Sultans fixture will be played in Karachi.
  • The last match will be played at Lahore (on May 4), after which Rawalpindi will host four while Multan will host two matches.

A meeting was held between the PCB and franchise owners to review the PSL 10. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) considered having the PSL 10 from April 7 to May 20 next year due to the Champions Trophy 2025.

For the engagement of many fans, It was also emphasized to bring about changes in the playing conditions of the tournament.

PCB to decide the optimal window for PSL 10

The chairman of PCB “Mohsin Naqvi” has announced that they will regulate the “optimal window” for the next (2025) edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Naqvi stated:

“PSL is a brand of Pakistan, which is why it will be given its due importance. Organizing PSL 10 in conjunction with international commitments will pose a challenge, but we are prepared for it.”

In PSL 10 Lahore, Rawalpindi to host more matches than Karachi

More Matches are to be Hosted in Lahore and Rawalpindi, while Karachi’s number of matches is to Decrease. Due to turnout concerns, Karachi is set to host fewer matches in PSL 2025.

The cricket management is considering reducing the number of matches in Karachi during the PSL 10, 2025, due to the low turnout in the previous edition’s matches. Lahore and Rawalpindi are set to host more matches than Karachi during the thrilling HBL PSL T20 event in 2025.

  • Karachi has been given five matches in the PSL 2025 draft.
  • Lahore will host a maximum of (10) matches.
  • Eight matches are set to be played in Rawalpindi.
  • Multan will also host five matches during the event.

Javed Afridi demands the inclusion of Peshawar as a venue for PSL 10

In an email addressed to PCB officials, Peshawar Zalmi’s owner (Javed Afridi) has appealed to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to consider including Peshawar as a venue for PSL 2025 matches.

He also had a resultant call with CM KP @AliAminKhanPTI. He has directed the sports department to release funds for the remaining 20% of work at Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar.

Javed Afridi further requested Mohsin Naqvi to establish a committee in Peshawar city to ensure the certainty of PSL matches. Confirming these, Afridi shared details on social media, expressing hope about the support received from the CM and the PCB Chairman. 

Steve Smith and Joe Root are among the players listed for the PSL 10 squad

For the draft of PSL 10, 2025, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises have initially shortlisted big players for foreign categories belonging to Australia, England, and South Africa.

According to resources, former Australian captain Steve Smith and former England captain Joe Root are selected for the draft. The Most probable candidates that may appointed for the PSL 10 draft include; Daniel Sams, Steve Smith, Josh Hazlewood, and Josh Inglis. 

England: Joe Root, Adil Rashid, Ben Duckett, Alex Hales, Chris Jordan, Sam Billings.

New Zealand: Finn Allen, Colin Munro, Kyle Jamieson, Adam Milne, Ish Sodhi and Tim Southee.

South Africa: Rassie Van Der Dussen, Reeza Hendricks, and Tabraiz Shamsi.

West Indies: Jason Holder.
